Anthony: Thanks so much for taking the time to chat today, Brandy. I would love to start by hearing a bit about your backstory. How did you recover from your devastatingly painful condition, and what led you to begin this healing process?
Brandy: Absolutely. If someone had told me I could heal myself using my mind, I would have thought they were crazy. I had a background in network engineering and operations, and after a car accident followed by a fall, I found myself in excruciating pain, diagnosed with complex regional pain syndrome (CRPS) and spinal endplate fractures. My doctors said there was nothing they could do for me. I went through ups and downs, trying everything from diet and supplements to detoxes and special water. Nothing worked until I started exploring the power of the mind.
Anthony: Thatโs incredible. What was the turning point for you in realizing the potential of the mind to heal the body?
Brandy: One pivotal moment was learning about people with multiple personality disorder having different illnesses in different personalities. It blew my mind that a person could have an illness in one personality and be healthy in another. Along with the placebo effect, it pointed to how incredible our minds are. Initially, I tried positive thinking, visualization, meditation, and affirmations, but it wasn’t until I started looking into medical journals and understanding concepts like the open-label placebo that I made real progress.
Anthony: How did you start diving into this world, and what did you discover that finally worked for you?
Brandy: I began by questioning how long meditation takes to activate the bodyโs self-healing mechanism. When I realized that placebo effects and multiple personality shifts didnโt require meditation, I knew I was missing something. I started paying attention to subtle thoughts and emotions, understanding that stress and certain emotional patterns could impact the body. Itโs like making a cakeโyou need the right combination of ingredients. For me, it was about addressing emotions like fear, guilt, and self-punishment.
Anthony: Can you explain the connection between these emotional patterns and physical health?
Brandy: Absolutely. Our bodies give us messages through symptoms. For example, neck pain might signify feeling like someone is a pain in the neck. Back pain could indicate feeling unsupported. My abnormal nervous system response in CRPS was linked to deep-seated emotional patterns, like fear from 9/11 and survivorsโ guilt. By addressing these emotions and understanding their impact, I was able to reprogram my mind and start healing.
Anthony: Thatโs fascinating. How did you go about digging into your subconscious mind and addressing these deep-seated emotions?
Brandy: I stopped using meditation as an escape and started checking into how I really felt. I used metaphysical teachings and expanded on the concept that our bodies reflect our emotions. For example, someone with hearing issues might not want to hear something. I realized my nervous system was reacting to deep-seated fear and guilt, so I began addressing these specific emotions.
Anthony: What advice do you have for someone dealing with a chronic illness who struggles with meditation and wants to heal?
Brandy: Start by bringing more optimism into your life. Research shows that optimism can speed up healing. It makes it easier to let go of negativity. Instead of meditating, identify specific negative emotions and replace them with positive ones. Create new neural pathways by repeatedly accessing positive emotions. For example, I used songs like โBeautiful Dayโ by U2 to amplify positive feelings and create new neural patterns.
Anthony: Can you give an example of a technique someone can use to reprogram their mind and heal?
Brandy: One powerful technique is to use songs to amplify positive emotions. Listen to a song that makes you feel great and immerse yourself in that feeling repeatedly. This helps create new neural pathways and a biochemical response in your body. It’s about shifting your consciousness to a new direction, away from negative patterns and towards positive ones.
Anthony: Thatโs a great approach. What is the key to manifesting these changes in oneโs life?
Brandy: Identify specific positive emotions and amplify them repeatedly. Also, be aware of any underlying guilt or negative patterns and work on releasing them. Our minds can miswire emotions, so it’s important to reprogram them intentionally. For example, someone might link illness to receiving love, which needs to be addressed to heal.
Anthony: Thank you, Brandy, for sharing your incredible journey and insights. Any final thoughts or advice for our readers?
Brandy: My hope is that our generation masters the power of the mind to heal. Illness is rampant, but we don’t need to spend our lives sick. By harnessing the power of our minds, we can achieve incredible healing. Remember, itโs about hope, not fear. We have the capability to create profound changes in our health and lives.
Anthony: Thank you, Brandy. Itโs been a pleasure talking with you. We look forward to sharing your insights with our readers.
Brandy: Thank you, Anthony. Itโs been wonderful talking with you. Take care!
